sportsmedicine and work related injuries. Our therapists want
to help you in your rehabilitation process so that you may
return to your job, sport, or everyday living as promptly
and safely as possible.
Steve Barrett, MS, LAT, ATC Director of Rehabilitation and
Athletic Training
Steve Barrett, MS, LAT, ATC, Director of Rehabilitation and
Athletic Training:
After growing up in Larned, Kansas, Steve traveled north
to Creighton University and graduated Cum Laude with
a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education in 1984.
Steve received his Masters of Science Degree in Athletic
Training from Indiana State University 1985. His first
job as a Head Athletic Trainer and Associate Professor
was at Saint Joseph College in Renessealer, Indiana
until 1987. Steve was the Head Athletic Trainer, Wellness
Director and Instructor position at Garden City Community
College, before he met Dr. Baughman, the team physician,
in 1987. In May of 1993, he began working at Sandhill.
Steve helped incorporate a Sportsmedicine Program into
the clinic. In 2010, Steve was inducted into the GCCC Athletic Hall of Fame.
Steve and Brenda have two children- Brandon
and Brittany. He enjoys canoeing, hunting, fishing,
and particularly bonding with his daughter, Brittany,
when they rebuilt a 1950 Chevy pickup.

Charlie Williams, MS, PT Assistant Director of Physical
Therapy and Rehabilitation
Charlie Williams, MS, PT, Assistant Director of Physical
Therapy and Rehabilitation: Although a Missouri native,
Charlie bleeds crimson and blue since graduating from
Kansas University in 1999 with a Bachelors of Science
Degree in Exercise Science. He returned to St. Louis
to complete his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy
from Washington Universtiy in 2002. Charlie was employed
short-term at St. Louis University Hospital before he
and wife, Dawn, moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked
for 3 ½ years in outpatient orthopaedics. Charlie
took the Physical Therapist position at Sandhill in
November 2006. The Williams’ have two children-
Logann and Spencer. Charlie enjoys spending time with
his family, golfing, snow skiing, and traveling.

Cassandra Boyd LAT, ATC
Cassandra
Boyd LAT, ATC: Cassy graduated from Scott City
High School in 2002. Cassy attended Johnson County Community
College and Kansas State University. In 2006, she graduated
with a Bachelors degree in Athletic Training. Cassy
married Jeff Boyd in 2007 after starting work at Sandhill
Orthopaedic. She enjoys being outdoors, working with
her husband in the yard, providing rodeo coverage, learning
new recipes, and sewing quilts.

Judy Franco
Judy Franco
: Judy was raised in eastern Colorado, coming to
Garden City to be closer to family. You may recognize Judy, as
she had previously been here as a front desk receptionist. She
returns to us as a Spanish-English translator and a physical
therapy technician. Judy is currently going back to college! She
loves the Boston Redsox, spending time with her daughter, going to
her brother's baseball games, and reading anything besides her textbooks.

Samantha Hostetler LAT, ATC
Samantha
Hostetler LAT, ATC: Samantha grew up in Harper,
Kansas and graduated from Chaparral High School in 2004.
She graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors
of Athletic Training in 2008. Two weeks later, Samantha
moved out to Garden City for her first job at Sandhill
Orthopaedic. Her interests include keeping in touch
with her friends and family, cooking and baking, scrapbooking,
being outdoors, and staying physically active.

Leslie Okeson MS, LAT, ATC
Leslie Okeson MS, LAT,
ATC: Leslie received her Associates Degree
in General Studies in 1993 from Colby Community College.
She studied Exercise Science at Fort Hays State University
earned both of her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in
Exercise Science in 1997. She started at Sandhill
Orthopaedic in 1997 as a traveling athletic trainer,
visiting area high schools as part of our Sportsmedicine
Program. Leslie and husband, Eric, reside in Weskan,
Kansas with their daughter, Ariana. The Okeson’s
love to cheer on the Rockies and the Broncos. Leslie
enjoys swimming, running, biking, and golf.

Gwen Oyler, CPTA
Gwen Oyler, CPTA:
Gwen grew up in Nebraska, coming south to Colby Community College where she graduated in 1992.
Gwen is rejoining us here at Sandhill after two and a half years working in the home health market.
All in all, she has worked with Dr. Baughman for over ten years. Gwen and her husband,
Brian, have two children, Aaron and Ashtyn. She enjoys spending time with them,
growing her vegetable garden, cooking up all of her fresh produce, and living a quiet country life.
